Full status as an academic institution

The year 2003 brought about landmark organisational and infrastructural changes for the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw. By decision of the Minister of National Education and Sport dated 23 January 2003 (DSW-3-4001-50/TT/03) the institution was removed from the register of non-state vocational colleges (no. 64) and entered into the register of non-state higher education institutions under number 143. This meant that it had attained full status as an academic institution, which significantly altered its position within the higher education system.

This change was significant not only in formal terms. The status of an academic institution confirmed the development of the academic staff and the ability to conduct research and provide education at a higher academic level. It marked the next stage in the transition from a vocational institution to a university with academic ambitions.

In the same year, the range of courses was expanded to include a degree programme in Management and Marketing, strengthening the university’s economic and managerial profile and responding to the growing needs of the labour market. The new programme became one of the key areas of study, attracting students interested in modern management and entrepreneurship.

Head office at 55 Pawia Street

In September 2003, the university moved its headquarters to a new building at 55 Pawia Street in Warsaw’s Wola district. The new location provided better conditions for teaching, developing administrative infrastructure and fostering an academic community within a larger, more functional space.

The year 2003 was thus a time of consolidation and professionalisation – a formal elevation to the ranks of academic institutions and a strengthening of the premises and curriculum, which laid the foundations for the institution’s continued dynamic development in the years that followed.
