The year 2002 marked one of the first turning points in the history of the Warsaw School of Finance and Management. By decision of the Minister of National Education and Sport dated 25 November 2002 (DSW-3-4001-1140/TT/02), the institution was transformed from a vocational college into an academic institution operating under the Higher Education Act.
This change in status marked the beginning of a new phase of development – the university gained the right to offer master’s degree programmes in psychology and higher vocational programmes in finance and banking. This was a significant step towards building a comprehensive model of academic education, based not only on practical vocational training but also on the development of research and theoretical skills.
The launch of the Master’s degree programme in psychology was of particular significance for the further development of the university’s profile. In the years that followed, this programme became one of the cornerstones of its academic and scientific identity. At the same time, the development of the finance and banking sector reinforced the institution’s economic character, responding to the needs of a rapidly changing market.
The year 2002 thus marked the formal and strategic beginning of the journey towards becoming a university with academic ambitions – an institution that gradually expanded its remit, built up its academic staff and prepared for further stages of development.
