The year 2020 marked a significant strengthening of the social dimension of the university’s activities. The University of Economics and Humanities in Warsaw joined the UN’s global initiative PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) – a programme bringing together universities from around the world that are committed to educating socially and ethically responsible leaders.
Participation in PRME entails the implementation of the principles of sustainable development, social responsibility and ethics in educational programmes, research and relations with the business community. It also involves the university joining an international network of institutions that view education as a tool for exerting a tangible influence on the economy and society.
In 2020, the Mens Docta awards were also presented for the first time, recognising students and graduates who achieve outstanding academic results, engage in community service and demonstrate responsible leadership. This initiative has come to symbolise the recognition not only of knowledge, but also of academic maturity and commitment.
The year 2020 demonstrated that the development of a university involves not only infrastructure investments and new powers, but also the conscious cultivation of a culture of responsibility – in teaching, research and relations with the academic community.
