This was the year in which the university – then still known as the Academy of Economics and Humanities in Warsaw (AEH) – made a groundbreaking debut in prestigious academic rankings, putting it on the global map of higher education institutions for the first time. AEH was included in the QS World University Rankings – one of the world’s most recognised academic rankings, which assesses institutions in terms of academic reputation, internationalisation, citations and many other criteria. In this ranking, the university was one of the few Polish institutions – both nationally and in Eastern Europe – to secure a place in a ranking bracket where few other private universities from Poland feature, thereby strengthening its global recognition.
The year 2023 also marked the moment when AEH was included in the THE Impact Rankings – a ranking compiled by Times Higher Education, which assesses universities in terms of their implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its inclusion in this ranking confirms the university’s commitment to areas with a tangible social impact, both in education and in its engagement with the local and global communities.
This year also saw further positive programme evaluations and high positions in national rankings, which confirm the quality of education in key areas. In the Perspektywy 2024 Ranking of Non-State Universities, AEH achieved a high position in the overall classification, and in the subject rankings, the administration programme, among others, took 1st place amongst non-state universities, whilst the finance and accounting, management and psychology were among the top in their categories, ranking highly on a national scale as well.
These international and national accolades demonstrate that the university’s teaching and research activities are highly regarded both by global academic quality rankings and by independent national institutions monitoring educational standards. As a result, AEH is gaining increasing academic recognition worldwide, marking an important milestone ahead of the next stages of its development as VIZJA University.
